Improve your technique (& get some free speed!). Learn how to relax when climbing & gain confidence when descending. Understand more about cornering, sprinting & carrying more speed. Optimise your pedalling technique (& exercises to improve).
Cycling is an inherently technical sport, requiring posture, balance, awareness of your peripheral vision, and an ability to ride one-handed, no-handed, to be able to look over your shoulder whilst retaining complete control of the bike.
Descending requires the ability to remain relaxed and alert and have confidence in your own skills, learning to use your body mass to gently caress the bike into the cornering lines you want to take.
Equally, climbing requires us to relax when our bodies what us to tense and let the legs do the work, spinning a gear that avoids ‘grinding’ and early fatigue.
Mastering these techniques will give you ‘free’ speed – the ability to go faster or retain the same speed without additional effort, allowing you to complete whatever challenge you’ve set yourself faster and/or fresher.
